Alton Coleman and Debra Brown were a disturbed and brutal killing couple. Colman had prior arrests for rape and served his sentence. However, after meeting Debra, the duo started their slayings across the state. Thus, they raped and murdered eight people during a short period in 1984.

Alton and Debra began their atrocities in Wisconsin by killing the nine-year-old girl. After that, they were on the run and continued their barbarities across the country. On their way, they raped and molested children and abducted, kidnapped, robbed, and murdered everyone else. Alton Coleman was executed in 2002, and Debra Brown got 140 years of imprisonment. She would have easily qualified among the most notorious women serial killers in the 20th century if she had worked alone.

The first murder occurred while Charles was trying to rob the gas station. Afterward, he went to Fugante's home, and together they killed her parents and baby sister. After a while, they started to run, committing random killings.

When they were arrested, Caril claimed that she was the hostage. Later on, Charles confessed his crimes accusing Caril of other murders. He was convicted and executed aged 20. Caril was paroled after serving 18 years in prison.

She was an ex-teacher, and he was a dentist, living an ordinary life in Stavropol, Russia. However, the truth was far from ordinary. The family has committed a series of robberies and murders for six years since 2007.

Moreover, their daughters were involved as they pretended to go on a family vacation while they robbed and killed innocent people. They were caught after burglarizing a police officer's home in 2013. During the arrest, Podkopaev was killed in the crossfire while the rest of the "Gang of Amazon" (media nickname) went to jail.

The psychopath Ian Brady met Myra Hindley in the factory they had worked at. Soon after they started dating, they began to plan a perfect murder. They started their killing spree by alluring the young Pauline Reade, whom Myra knew, to help them, ending up with Pauline's raping and murdering. Moreover, they tricked all their victims by seeking help and offering them a ride. They were arrested when the witness, who helped them do their last murder, called the police.

During the 1980s, the old married couple, Ray and Faye Copeland, killed at least five (seven more suspected) drifters and hitchhikers at their Missouri farm. Ray was known as a con man and a thief from a young age, as he had spent a few years in jail for his crimes.

He devised a scheme to hire the drifters to buy livestock with fake checks, re-sell the cattle afterward, and kill the travelers to cover his con. During this time, they employed the worker who had his suspicions. Once Ray tried to kill him, the man managed to escape and alert the authorities. After their arrest, Ray and Faye Copeland were the oldest couple in America sentenced to the death penalty.

5. Karla Homolka and Paul Kenneth Bernardo

Therefore, this crime was sick on so many levels, and since they videotaped everything, it gets even more twisted. They were arrested after committing three killings. Paul got a life sentence, and Karla testified against Paul in exchange for reduced punishment. She was released after serving twelve years in prison.

4. Raymond Fernandez and Martha Beck

Also known as 'The Lonely Hearts Killers,' Raymond Fernandez and Martha Beck allegedly killed over twenty women. They preyed on their victims through lonely hearts ads during the late 1940s. Martha loved Raymond unconditionally, as she left her children for him and participated in his scam to rob lonely women. 

The couple posed as a sister and a brother to gain the victims' trust before robbing and killing them. Moreover, after their arrest, they confessed to murdering women for shorter sentences. However, they were extradited to New York for trial, and both got the death penalty before being executed in 1951.

3. Gerald and Charlene Gallego

They have been chiefly abducting teenage girls in Sacramento since the end of the 1970s. The couple operated so that Charlene loured the victims into the van, as Gerald would tide them up, threatening them with the gun. 

They would take the victims to a secluded place, killing them after the rape and torture. After their arrest, Charlene took a plea deal for testifying against Gerald, claiming she was also the victim. She spent only 16 years in jail, as Gerald died behind bars waiting for execution.

Fred and Rosemary West were a married couple with eight children and one stepchild from Fred's previous marriage. They committed their crimes in Gloucester, England, from the mid-1960s for the next two decades. Fred forced Rosemary to work as a prostitute, watching her through the peephole.

Their victims were women tortured, raped, killed, and buried in the backyard or the cellar. Fred also abused their daughters, and Rosemary killed Fred's stepdaughter. After Fred was arrested, police found the bodies of twelve victims buried at their home. While he killed himself, waiting for the trial, Rosemary will spend her life behind bars.

Also known as the Sunset Strip Killers, Carol M. Bundy and Doug Clark killed their victims to fulfill their twisted sexual desires. Doug Clark was a rapist and a pedophile; later, he became a murderer and necrophiliac. He found his soul mate in Carol Bundy, as she was sick and twisted as him.

Together, they killed prostitutes and runaways in Los Angeles in the 1980s. The killings were brutal, as they even decapitated some of the victims. Once they were arrested, Bundy tried to defend herself, blaming all on Clark. However, her involvement was proven, so she died in prison. On the other hand, Clark stated that he was manipulated by Bundy. But as the evidence against him was strong, he got the death sentence. Yet, Los Angeles remains one of the most dangerous cities in California.
