Marshall Bruce Mathers III, aka Slim Shady or Eminem, is a rapper that has sold the most records in history, US and worldwide. He is also the singular artist who has had ten #1 albums in a row and a very successful movie inspired by his life. That's a pretty impressive achievement, if we may add. Many people consider Eminem "the greatest rapper of all time" and a fantastic collaborator, so we won't challenge that. We love Slim Shady because of his creative and imaginative lyricism and ability to knock you to the ground with his words. This time, we'll name our top ten favorite Eminem disses aimed at his celebrity colleagues.
10. Kim Kardashian
It's 2009, and Eminem dropped a second single, "We Made You," from his sixth studio album, "Relapse." The song makes fun of celebrities like Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, and Kim Kardashian. It was well-received amongst the critics, although some people felt offended.
Yet, Eminem wanted to show us, in a goofy way, that celebrities aren't much better than us. This is also a critique of our society because we made those people famous and popular. What does that say about us? On a lighter note, Kim Kardashian felt honored to be mentioned by Eminem in a song. That's the spirit!
9. Donald Trump
The rapper destroyed Donald Trump multiple times with his rhymes. Still, we'll talk about our personal favorite, a freestyle rap, during the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2017. He did start his career in battle rap anyway, so coming up with lyrics right then and there is nothing for the Detroit artist.
He even went as far to say: "And any fan of mine who's a supporter of his, I'm drawing in the sand a line, you're either for or against, And if you can't decide who you like more and you're split, On who you should stand beside, I'll do it for you with this: F*** you."
8. Elvis Presley
As a few years have passed since his last release, in the song "Without Me," the rapper boasts how the music industry would be dull without him. Staying true to himself, he offends a few celebrities throughout the song. Amongst others, he mentions the music icon and sex symbol, Elvis Presley.
In this track, he explains how the people calling him out for "stealing black culture" are the same whose parents grew up on Elvis music. Ouch! Did you have to do it, Em?
7. Moby
It all started in the 2001 Grammys when Moby called Eminem homophobic, misogynistic, and anti-semitic. The rapper returned the favor on his hit song "Without Me," making fun of his age and threatening to let his protégé Obie Trice assault him. It even got to a point where Eminem challenged the electronic musician to a fight at the 2002 MTV VMAs.
What's interesting about this feud is that Moby holds no resentment towards Eminem. Moreover, he hails him as an amazingly talented rapper who had a long and successful career. Fun fact - his favorite Eminem track is "Without Me." Guess why? It gave him loads of free publicity!
6. Michael Jackson
In 2004, Eminem released a song, "Lose It," where he mocks Michael Jackson's child molestation charges. He even makes fun of his hair catching on fire during the filming of the 1984 Pepsi commercial. The song got massive airplay, and Michael was ridiculed.
Therefore, The King of Pop publicly insisted that all cable music video stations across the country stop playing the rapper's video. The icon felt that he was wrongly depicted and that the act was more insensitive and demeaning than spoofy. After some years and Michael's tragic death, Eminem has become less critical and harsh towards MJ.
5. Britney Spears
In the song "Marshall Mathers," the rapper calls Britney garbage and mocks her singing skills. At the time, Britney Spears was killing it in the music industry before she suffered a meltdown. He referenced her album's price, asking her to give back his $16 for such trashy music.
He also used a B-word describing poor Britney, which was not as harsh as what he said to other artists. Yet, we doubt Eminem would get away with this in this day and age. All we can say is, "Poor Britney."
4. Machine Gun Kelly
The biggest mistake in Machine Gun Kelly's life is commenting about how Eminem has a good-looking daughter. C'mon, man, how was that ever a good idea? Subtle digs lasted some time, but the "Kamikaze" album came, where Eminem takes direct shots at Kelly.
Of course, Kelly responded with his diss track " Rap Devil." Although Eminem destroyed him lyrically, Kelly hasn't stopped mentioning his daughter. Still, in the hearts of fans, Slim Shady is the winner of this rap beef.
3. Christina Aguilera
Eminem first dissed Christina Aguilera in his song "The Real Slim Shady." It was all because of a TV interview that Aguilera did, where she commented on his relationship with Kim Mathers. I guess we can all see the pattern here. Don't ever mention the rapper's family! He will always retaliate.
Christina has since tried to shrug it off, but we bet she'll forever regret speaking about Eminem. This one is a never-ending beef as Em continues to throw disses at the singer here and there throughout the years.
2. Mariah Carey
Everything started in 2002 when Eminem addressed Mariah in his "Superman" song, insinuating they had a relationship. Mariah denied that and then parodied Eminem on her tour and had some words for him on her "Clown" song. Then, the rapper responded by allegedly playing voicemails from Carey at his concerts.
What followed was that the "All I Want for Christmas" hitmaker did a diss track "Obsessed" before the Detroit native fired back with the song "Warning." It was lethal and brutal, as he mentioned her then-husband - Nick Cannon. The beef has our heads spinning as it reappears from time to time. Can't we all just get along, guys? Years have passed; let's just move on.
1. Ja Rule
What started as a beef between 50 Cent and Ja Rule ended up being a war between record labels. Eminem wasn't that involved until Ja Rule mentioned his daughter Hailie, asking what she would become when she grew up.
The Slim Shady then went on to destroy the Queens rapper with the tracks "Doe Rae Me (Hailie's Revenge)," "Bully," and "Hail Mary." It helped speed up the process of an already declining career of Ja Rule. We guess people don't learn from others' mistakes! You just don't get to attack Em's daughter and make it out alive or have a career.
Eminem is and will remain the king of disses, so we wouldn't mess with him! While we couldn't fit all of them on our top ten list, these are the most memorable.
